Winter skin getting you down? Time to perk it up!
For those in the northern climates, it’s getting to be that time of year: The time when winter seems like it will never end and our skin feels like it’s paying the price.
You can likely see the telltale signs of enduring brutal winds, freezing temps, low humidity, arid indoor heat and a few extra worries.
The good news is that spring will come eventually, so it’s time to wake up your winter skin with some TLC. We’ve got some tips!
1. Facial massage: Wake up your winter skin
Just like your brain may need that first cup of coffee or energy drink in the morning to wake up, your skin needs similar encouragement.
Give your face a five-minute massage to get your blood circulating and reduce puffiness after lying down all night. You can find a lot of different techniques online.
In general, gently rub your face in small circles to perk up tired morning skin in just a few minutes. This can be done in the shower or when you apply serum or moisturizer. You could also consider using a gua sha stone, which addresses visible puffiness and energizes the skin’s appearance by moving fluid under the skin and stimulating circulation. (Learn how to use one here!)
2. Don’t forget eye cream
During drier months, fine lines and other aging effects can appear more visible around eyes, so invest in an ultra-hydrating eye cream like Artistry Supreme LX™ Regenerating Eye Cream. It’s an anti-aging powerhouse that will help you get more radiant-looking eyes instantly.
You could also consider Artistry Skin Nutrition™ Renewing Reactivation Eye Cream for more youthful-looking eyes. It reduces visible signs of aging and stress like lines, wrinkles, loss of firmness, dryness, dark circles and puffiness.
3. Dry winter skin? Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate
Dry, flaky skin, especially around your nose, is one of the main culprits when it comes to dull winter skin. In fact, your skin is probably radiant; it’s just hiding under layers of old cells.
If you don’t already exfoliate regularly, now is the time. Gently buff away dry flakes while washing your face with Artistry Studio™ Glow Boss Cleanser + Exfoliator. It uses bamboo grains to exfoliate as it cleanses, sweeping away impurities and buildup while helping to control oil and reduce shine.
Or you can use a separate exfoliating product, like Artistry Signature Select™ Polishing Mask or Artistry Studio Polished Pout Lip Exfoliator + Conditioner. They both use sugar crystals to exfoliate away dead skin cells.
4. Hype up your hydration to combat dry skin
Parched winter skin occurs because winter air is dry and lacking in moisture. Add that moisture back into your skin by drinking plenty of water and moisturizing regularly.
Apply moisturizer each morning and evening after cleansing, toning and treating with serum. The Artistry Skin Nutrition collection has multiple options to target your concerns, including the Renewing and Firming lines, which work to repair and nourish skin with early to moderate signs of aging and lift and repair the appearance of more advanced signs of aging.
Need more hydration help? Add an Artistry Signature Select Hydrating Mask. Massage gently into your cleansed skin and rinse off after 7 minutes to help your skin seal in water and stay plump and healthy-looking.
Wondering what to do about your lips? Never fear. Try the Artistry Studio Pampered Pout Lip Balm + Overnight Mask. It’s a balm that instantly leaves your lips feeling smooth and moisturized. But you can also leave it on overnight to work as an intense lip mask that restores moisture.
5. Go light on the makeup
Makeup can be a tricky prospect if your skin is dry and flaky. Powder-based products tend to cling to flakes. It’s better to stick to creamy, moisturizing foundations, such as Artistry Future Glow™ Serum Foundation. It provides hydrating coverage that helps brighten the look of dull skin. And make sure to remove all your makeup each night!
6. Go for deep restoration of your dry winter skin
It’s a good idea to give your skin an intensive treatment every three to four months to maintain healthy looking skin, too.
Consider a treatment like Artistry™ Intensive Skincare 14 Night Reset Program, which targets the fine lines and wrinkles you see in the mirror along with environmental harm, moisture content, skin texture and dullness. It leaves your skin smoother, more hydrated and even-toned with a healthy, youthful-looking glow.
It helps repair the visible signs of damage quickly and skin becomes stronger to defend against future visible skin aging. Simply swap it for two weeks with any treatments that are part of your evening skin care routine.
You could also do an at-home facial. the Artistry Labs™ Retexturizing System is a four-week regimen intended to be used every three months, which coincides perfectly with how the seasons affect your skin. The system features a combination of the treatments (chemical peel, enzyme peel, hydrodermabrasion and a serum) to deliver smoother, rejuvenated skin in four weeks.
7. Full body skin care
We all like to put our best face forward, but the rest of our body deserves some skin care, too. Whether it’s cleansing, exfoliating, hydrating, firming or brightening, the Artistry Signature Select Body Collection has something to offer.
Waking up from the last several months, maybe you feel your skin could benefit from all five options. At the least, grab the Artistry Signature Select Brightening Body Cream. It will help you show off your skin’s glow while also helping to nourish, strengthen and protect your skin’s moisture barrier.
